US MARINE CARL SPURLIN DEKEL turned 100 years old last week.  He earned the Silver Star while serving America during WWII.  In a televised interview, Mr. Dekel recalled his military service and said that he wouldn’t hesitate to put his life on the line again.  But, he also lamented the changes that have occurred in our country over the past several years.  “People don’t realize what they have,” Dekel said.  “The things we did and the things we fought for and the boys that died for it, it’s all gone down the drain.”

MORE SOBERING WERE THESE WORDS:  “We haven’t got the country we had when I was raised, not at all.  Nobody will have the fun I had. Nobody will have the opportunity I had.  It’s just not the same and that’ snot what our boys, that’s not what they died for.”  Mr. Dekel lamented the sacrifices that so many of his friends made for our country given how our county has squandered those sacrifices.

WOULD THOSE MEN have so willingly given their lives if they could have known what would happen to their beloved country years later?  We don’t know.

BUT ANOTHER SACRIFICED not just for America, but for persons world-wide.  Jesus gave His life so that persons in any country from any era of human history would have the opportunity to be forgiven and to go to heaven.  And how persons would squander that gift is something He was well aware of.  He knew.

JESUS KNEW  that some would quietly reject Him.

JESUS KNEW  that some would vehemently oppose Him.

JESUS KNEW  that some would mock Him.

JESUS KNEW that some would betray Him.

AND KNOWING THIS FULL WELL  He still went to the cross.  He also knew that there would be some who would accept Him, that there would be some who would love Him, that there would be some that would accept his offer of grace.  He knew.

PEOPLE ASK MORE AND MORE OFTEN, “When is Jesus coming back?” “Why hasn’t He come back yet?’  Only God knows the time of His return, but we can all know why it hasn’t happened yet. Scripture tells us, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”  He’s waiting for one more.  He’s waiting for another soul to repent.  He desires that no one wind up in Hell, but that all would accept His love and forgiveness.

IS HE WAITING FOR YOU?

IS HE WAITING FOR SOMEONE YOU KNOW?

JESUS KNEW and He still went to the cross.  Don’t squander the opportunity for salvation.
